The Kings Arms Otterton
Win a Devon Weekend Break
We are delighted to offer the chance to win a two-night stay for two people at the Kings Arms Otterton. The Prize includes a Greendale Hamper on arrival, full of the Westcountry's finest produce; breakfast and dinners are also included.
Nestled in the heart of beautiful Otterton, The Kings Arms is a traditional Devon pub, full of old-world charm. This cosy, dog-friendly pub is an ideal pit-stop on walks along the nearby coast; it’s also close to the River Otter and handy for the beaches at Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth.
This simple recipe is put together and partially cooked before it reaches the barbecue, so you won’t have to wait long for the skewers to be ready (if the weather is looking grim you can always cook the skewers indoors, under the grill). Serves 4-6.
Pleasure of Picnics
Picnics and summer days
Picnics and summer days make for happy memories (somehow, rain and wasps just add to the experience!). Whether you like to pack a hamper with carefully chosen luxurious treats, or just grab some bread, cheese and fruit to assemble later, one thing is certain - everything tastes better outdoors. Happily, Greendale Farm Shop has a great selection of picnic fare, from our home-made pork pies, pasties, sausage rolls and Scotch eggs to salads, fresh fruit and veg, local cheeses and charcuterie, chutneys, crisps and crackers. We also sell delicious bread from local bakeries and freshly caught and cooked crab and lobster, as well as wine, beer, cider and scrumptious sweet treats. Why not pop into the store or visit our website and put together your perfect picnic, then head out into the sunshine for some al fresco fun!
Summer evenings are perfect for laid-back beach barbecues, and fresh Mackerel is an ideal candidate for cooking over charcoal, as the heat renders its rich flesh deliciously moist. Here’s a simple recipe for barbecuing a whole fish (allow one Mackerel per person).
