Our Venison comes from locally sourced wild deer, their free-range lifestyle and mixed, varied diet imparting delicious flavour to the meat they produce. Hand-trimmed by the Greendale master butchers, these tender boneless steaks are quick and easy to cook.

In the game season, our local supplier (based in mid_Devon) keeps us well stocked with carefully hung and matured venison.

Butcher's Tips

Compared with beef, venison is lower in fat and calories, and higher in iron and vitamin B. The meat has a finer texture, and very little marbling. Because venison is low in fat, an oil_based marinade pre_cooking will help the steaks to retain moisture.

How to Cook

To pan_fry, heat a tablespoon of oil in a frying pan. Add the steaks and cook for four to five minutes on each side, ensuring the surface of the meat is cooked thoroughly.

Storage Instructions Store in fridge and consume within 2-3 days of receipt, or freeze immediately. Suitable for freezing. All items are labelled with use by dates.

Fresh Greendale Produce - Meat and seafood will be bagged and ready to cook or freeze on delivery. All fresh meat and fish will be vacuum-packed and labelled with use-by dates and a suggested frozen shelf life. Packaging or labelling may change depending on preparation or delivery limitations. When the meat or fish has been packaged it is immediately placed in an insulated envelopes and surrounded with chilled gel-packs to keep it cool and in perfect condition.
