Origins

Thorntons have been crafting chocolate for almost a century, and all of that know-how goes into each and every chocolate they make. It all started back in 1911 when travelling confectioner, Joseph William Thornton, opened up a sweet shop in Sheffield. He didn’t know then just how successful it would become, so he carried on with his day job and entrusted his 14-year-old son Norman to run the shop. He handed over the keys and told him to “make this the best sweet shop in town” - and that’s exactly what he did. It wasn’t until the 1920’s that the brothers were making their hand-made chocolate truffles, crystallised fondants and, of course, their famous Thorntons special toffee. Then, there was no stopping them. Since the little shop in Sheffield, a lot has changed for Thorntons, they still only use the finest cocoa and their passion for chocolate and love of craft still shines through in everything they do.

Click & Collect FREE - Order online and collect from our Farm Shop, You can choose to collect on a ‘specified day’ (Monday to Sunday) during checkout. We will email you when your produce is ready for collection.

Local Delivery £4.95 (Free on orders over £50) - We offer local delivery for customers living in the EX1 to EX5, & EX8 to EX11 postcode areas. Choose a ‘specified day’(Monday to Sunday) during checkout. Please note: All orders to the remaining EX postcodes will be delivered using our standard national courier.

National Delivery £7.95 (Free on orders over £50) - We offer nationwide delivery. Choose a delivery date (Monday to Sunday) during checkout.

Fresh Greendale Produce - Meat and seafood will be bagged and ready to cook or freeze on delivery. All fresh meat and fish will be vacuum-packed and labelled with use-by dates and a suggested frozen shelf life. Packaging or labelling may change depending on preparation or delivery limitations. When the meat or fish has been packaged it is immediately placed in an insulated envelopes and surrounded with chilled gel-packs to keep it cool and in perfect condition.
