Greendale Funds New Defibrillator

As part of our continuing commitment to supporting the community, at Greendale we are delighted to be working with two important local charities; Exmouth Gateway and Jay’s AIM.

Jay’s AIM is a charity that raises awareness of the risks and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest in the young, while Exmouth Gateway is a social group for adults with learning difficulties who live in and around the Exmouth area. Exmouth Gateway uses a specially-adapted mini bus to transport its football team (the Exmouth Tigers) to football training and competitions, as well as residential trips throughout the year. Now, with full funding from Greendale Farm Shop and free support and CPR/AED training from Jay’s AIM, the mini bus has been fitted with a defibrillator.

Will Carter, of Greendale Group, stated, “We were over the moon to bring these worthwhile charities together and fully fund the defibrillator and signs for the exterior of the mini bus. It will ensure that anyone close to the mini bus will know that a defibrillator is available, should it ever be needed in an emergency.

Paul Baldwin, of Exmouth Gateway, explained just how important the defibrillator will be; “It's great that we have received this defib, which is going to be carried on our adapted minibus so it will always be where we are with the charity. Special thanks to Greendale for their very generous donation, and to Jay's AIM, who are going to train our helpers and some of our members to use it, which is a very important skill for them.”

Highlighting the importance of publicly-accessible defibrillators, Dan Osbourne, Trustee of Jay’s AIM, said, “We were delighted to be put in touch with Paul from Exmouth Gateway to find out more about the type of activities that they provide for their local community. After finding out about the Exmouth Tiger football teams that they organise, as well as the residential trips that they use their mini bus to travel to and from, we were in no doubt about their need for a defibrillator. We would like to thank Greendale for their continued support and for helping us to get more publicly accessible defibrillators out in the South West.”

About Jay’s AIM

Jay’s AIM works to raise awareness of the risks and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest in the young. It does this by visiting schools, businesses and sports clubs across the South West to promote free cardiac screenings, giving free CPR/AED training and providing public-access defibrillators (PADs) to places in need. Set up just over 18 months ago, the charity has already trained over 2,616 young people in vital lifesaving CPR/AED skills. For more details visit: https://www.jaysaim.co.uk

About Exmouth Gateway

A social club for people with learning disabilities, Exmouth Gateway is run by volunteers and is self-funded. The charity arranges trips locally and nationally, including a yearly visit to Majorca, and has its own football team, Exmouth Tigers Disability FC. Bowling, discos, bingo, club nights and games are organised regularly, as well as Christmas parties, pantomimes and more. For further details visit: http://exmouthgateway.co.uk/

Greendale Farm Shop

Every 12 months, Greendale’s Charitable Giving Committee selects up to six community groups or charities to support. We work with each of our chosen charities throughout the year to determine how we can best support them including (but not limited to) making donations, participating in fundraising activities, providing equipment, or volunteering. We also encourage our staff to volunteer their time and expertise to support these programmes. Organisations eligible for the Charitable Giving Scheme include charities, schools and relevant community groups. The Committee will consider any requests submitted, and every year we will choose new organisations to support. If you're involved with an eligible organisation and you would like it to be considered for our Charitable Giving Scheme, please contact us at charities@greendale.com or visit our website https://www.greendale.com/about-us/charitable-giving/
