Port record smashed by William of Ladram

Skipper of the William of Ladram, Patrick Birley, landed over 20 tons of quality fish; the catch included cuttlefish, Dover Sole, monkfish, lemon sole, turbot, brill,  Pollock, ray, octopus and tub gurnard, and after being processed through Brixham fish market, much of it was soon available to buy on Greendale's website and at its Farm Shop. 

Speaking to Fishing News, Barry Young, MD of Brixham Trawler Agency (BTA), said: “This is a fantastic achievement, and reflects the hard work and innovative working practices of fishermen in the South West. Over 10 years of trialling new gear and fishing methods is now starting to pay dividends, with current stock levels in the Channel making it one of the richest fishing grounds in the world.”

The William of Ladram is part of the Greendale fishing fleet , supplying our fish counter and website with regular fresh catches that can be traced directly back to the sea. Operating in accordance with the Seafood Responsible Fishing Scheme, Greendale boats work out of Exmouth and Brixham in Devon, and Newlyn in Cornwall. They land a variety of fish in these Westcountry waters, and their catch can often be on its way to the Greendale farm shop within hours of leaving the sea. If we can’t catch a variety of fish or shellfish ourselves, we source only from trusted suppliers with standards as high as our own.
