White with distinctive blue veining, Roquefort is a crumbly, slightly moist French blue cheese with a lightly tangy flavour and edible rind. It is made with milk from the Lacaune breed of sheep, and aged for around five months in the natural Combalou caves of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon in southern France.

Origins

Under the EU’s PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) guidelines, only cheeses aged in the natural Combalou caves of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon may bear the name ‘Roquefort’. Despite being made by only a handful of producers, Roquefort is one of the most popular cheeses in France.

Storage Instructions Keep refrigerated. Once opened, use within 5 days. For optimum freshness once opened, rewrap the cheese so it is well sealed and airtight to avoid it drying out.

Fresh Greendale Produce - Meat and seafood will be bagged and ready to cook or freeze on delivery. All fresh meat and fish will be vacuum-packed and labelled with use-by dates and a suggested frozen shelf life. Packaging or labelling may change depending on preparation or delivery limitations. When the meat or fish has been packaged it is immediately placed in an insulated envelopes and surrounded with chilled gel-packs to keep it cool and in perfect condition.
