MORE THAN JUST A FARM SHOP!
GREENDALE
Welcome to Greendale Farm Shop, where you'll find all you need for a perfect summer of food, drink and family fun! As well as meat from our own farm and fresh fish from our boats, our shelves are packed with delicious local produce - from cheese and clotted cream to fresh fruit and veg, handmade burgers, newly-baked bread and Devon-brewed cider, we're proud stockists of the Westcountry's finest fare. If you can't get to Greendale in person, don't worry; just shop with us online and we'll deliver your order direct to your door. We make a point of using this fabulous local produce whenever we can on the menus at Greendale Kitchen (our cafe/restaurant), at our fish & chip takeaway and at Oscar's Drive-Thru, so whether you're relaxing with a morning coffee, joining us for dinner, picking up a takeaway or just grabbing a snack at Oscar's, we're confident you'll taste the Greendale difference. We aim to be a family-friendly place, so you'll find fun events and attractions happening here throughout the summer; our Family Farm Trail and brilliantly messy Mud-Ventures sessions are ideal for little ones, while the whole family can enjoy a splashing time at our mammoth Slip and Slide, and we'll also be hosting our popular free Summer Fete, plus regular Parkrun and Cars & Cuppas meet-ups. See you soon!
OUR STORY
GREENDALE
From humble beginnings, selling fresh eggs at the roadside, Greendale has grown and developed into the Farm Shop you see today. As a farm, we'd found ourselves increasingly at the mercy of a few very powerful supermarkets, who slowly drove the wholesale prices of our produce down to unsustainable levels. To escape these circumstances, we decided to cut out the middle-men and concentrate on selling our produce direct to customers via our own shop and website, enabling us to sell high-quality products at prices fair to both supplier and customer. We're helped enormously in this by the fact that, uniquely, we're able to sell fresh meat from our own farm and seafood from our own fishing fleet, alongside a carefully chosen selection of high-quality local produce. Our thriving on-site café, restaurant and popular takeaway all source their ingredients from the Farm Shop, too, creating delicious menus to further showcase this excellent local produce. Our main aim here at Greendale is to ensure that shopping with us is nothing like a visit to the supermarket, for all the right reasons; fresh, locally-sourced produce, an emphasis on traceability, and friendly service that goes the extra mile to make our customers happy.

Introducing our new Whelker - the Ted of Ladram
Meet the latest fishing vessel to join the fleet. Ted of Ladram was built by the skilled team at Parkol Marine Engineering Ltd in Whitby.

30 under 30 miles 2024
Based in the heart of the East Devon countryside, Greendale Farm Shop is an award-winning family business with generations of farming experience. We take pride in selling meat from our own farmland and fish from our own boats, and we also believe it’s incredibly important – now more than ever – to support the superb local growers and producers on our doorstep here in the West Country. To this end, each week we’ll be featuring a different small business, all located within 30 miles of our Farm Shop, and all brilliant examples of the wonderful produce available locally. From artisan bakeries, dairies and micro-breweries to jam, preserve and fudge makers, soap producers and candle workshops, this small region has so many passionate and successful businesses. By filling our shop with their exceptional produce, we can offer Greendale customers a great choice, support our local economy and keep food miles to a minimum – it’s a ‘win-win’ as far as we’re concerned!

The Benefits of Shopping Locally
At Greendale, we believe there are more reasons than ever to shop locally; as well as offering a more personal shopping experience (with direct economic benefits for the local economy), smaller local shops like ours offer fresher, better-quality stock than the supermarket giants, with a more interesting choice of locally-grown produce. As we’ve seen recently, local shops have also proved useful in a crisis; for example, when temporary fuel shortages prevented shoppers from driving to supermarkets, smaller local shops stepped in to fill the gap.
