Greendale Turkeys are sourced either from our own farm in nearby Woodbury Salterton, or from the Slade family at Rosamondford Farm, a mile away from Greendale Farm Shop. Raised from day_old chicks, the White Turkeys are fed a simple, additive_free diet of wheat and vegetables and live comfortably in specially_designed barns. Their simple, natural diet results in superbly flavoured meat, perfect for a traditional Christmas roast.
Subtle in taste, broader_breasted and ‘meatier’ than many other varieties, White Turkeys are probably the most familiar to us here in Britain, having traditionally been the Turkey of choice for our Christmas dinners. Turkeys are supplied dry_plucked and hand finished, ready for the oven.
N.B. weights include stuffing; times are based on an oven preheated to 180°C (160°C Fan, Gas Mark 4). If your turkey weighs less than 4.5kg, cook it for 45 minutes per kilo, plus an extra 20 minutes. If your turkey weighs between 4.5kg and 6.5kg, cook for 40 minutes per kilo. If your turkey weighs over 6.5kg, cook for 35 minutes per kilo. To help keep the meat moist, use the juices to baste it every 30 minutes. You can also cover the turkey with foil during cooking, but remove the foil for the final 30 minutes to ensure golden_brown skin. To make sure the turkey is cooked through before serving, use a skewer to pierce the thickest part of the thigh and check whether the juice runs clear; if it does, the turkey is ready. If the juice is pink, return the turkey to the oven for another 15 minutes before testing again; continue to do this until the juice runs clear. When the turkey is cooked through, transfer it to a serving dish and cover with foil, then set aside to rest in a warm place for at least 30 minutes.

Fresh Greendale Produce - Meat and seafood will be bagged and ready to cook or freeze on delivery. All fresh meat and fish will be vacuum-packed and labelled with use-by dates and a suggested frozen shelf life. Packaging or labelling may change depending on preparation or delivery limitations. When the meat or fish has been packaged it is immediately placed in an insulated envelopes and surrounded with chilled gel-packs to keep it cool and in perfect condition.
