Smoked for us in nearby Teignmouth, Greendale Smoked Streaky Bacon has a delicious, subtle smokiness that will lift any number of dishes – use it to wrap roast chicken or fish, line a paté dish or (our favourite) just sizzle a couple of rashers and eat between thick slices of good white bread.

Origins

From our trusted suppliers, Greendale bacon and gammon is made with pure, additive_free British and Irish pork. It’s home_cooked and prepared using a traditional recipe which gives a light, distinctively_flavoured cure; the smoked bacon and gammon are hung over oak chips, which impart a balanced, delicious smokiness to the meat.

Butcher's Tips

Streaky bacon has a slightly higher fat content than back bacon – this helps it to remain juicy when cooked, and gives it a superb flavour, too.

How to Cook

To pan fry, simply heat a heavy_based pan over a medium heat for a few moments, then add the bacon and fry for a couple of minutes on either side until cooked through and as crisp as you want it to be. To grill, place under a preheated grill for a couple of minutes on each side (watch it to make sure it doesn’t burn).

Fresh Greendale Produce - Meat and seafood will be bagged and ready to cook or freeze on delivery. All fresh meat and fish will be vacuum-packed and labelled with use-by dates and a suggested frozen shelf life. Packaging or labelling may change depending on preparation or delivery limitations. When the meat or fish has been packaged it is immediately placed in an insulated envelopes and surrounded with chilled gel-packs to keep it cool and in perfect condition.
