Caught by our Newlyn-based netters, Greendale hake is approved by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), meaning it comes from well-managed, sustainable fisheries. To ensure maximum freshness, the fish is boxed and iced as soon as it’s brought aboard, and fishing trips are kept short. When fresh hake arrives at Greendale Farm Shop, our expert Fishmongers waste no time in preparing it, curing and then smoking it over beech chippings in the traditional way. Succulent and delicious, Greendale hake loins are perfect in fish pie and kedgeree, or served simply with favourite veg for a truly tasty, more sustainable alternative to other smoked white fish.
