This Christmas, we’re taking our ‘Love Local’ campaign on the road and bringing a little bit of Greendale to Exeter city centre!

From November 30th, you can find us each Thursday during the run-up to Christmas Day (Exeter’s late night shopping evenings), on the fourth floor at John Lewis Exeter, where our Love Local Christmas Market will be showcasing some of the brilliant small, locally-based suppliers and producers we’re proud to stock at Greendale Farm Shop.

From artisan-baked bread and exceptional deli produce to coffee, small-batch spirits, hot sauce, luxury chocolates, hand-made gifts and even pet supplies, we guarantee you’ll find something you’ll love, from brands you won’t see on the high street!

A world away from the supermarkets, Greendale Farm Shop is bursting with fresh, locally-sourced produce. If we can’t grow it on our farm or catch it from our fishing boats, we buy from carefully chosen suppliers; it’s important that we offer only the best to our customers.

We'll have a delicious array of foodie gifts including Greendale honey, our new seasoning range, Greendale coffee, our handmade hampers, our locally-distilled spirits range and Greend'ale, scrumpy and lager.

JULIAN HOUSE - CHARITY GIFT WRAPPING

ATTENDING: 14TH AND 21ST DECEMBER

WHO THEY ARE
Julian House is a local, Southwest based charity that helps vulnerable, homeless, and at-risk people get back on their feet and rebuild their lives. Here in Exeter, Julian House provides a Homeless Outreach service that delivers daily, on-the-ground care for rough sleepers in rural and urban areas of the city. The team help individuals with their basic needs, such as finding emergency accommodation; facilitating opportunities to see a doctor, a dentist, or to discuss options for finding housing and employment. Their primary objective is to support rough sleepers to find suitable accommodation.

RUGGA COFFEE

WHO THEY ARE
Rugga Coffee are a family-run business with a love of rugby and a love of coffee at their core. Their aim is to share this combination with as many people as possible, and use it to support others, raise awareness of mental health struggles and raise money for mental health charities. Rugga work with a local family-owned coffee roasting company to produce their exciting, delicious blends of coffee.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The perfect gift for coffee-loving rugby fans, Rugga Coffee bags are named after player positions, plus a 'The TMO' decaf blend! Each purchase raises money for mental-health charities.

WHO THEY ARE
Devonian/South African couple Amy and Don, created Inyama Biltong in a mission to bring authentic South-African style biltong to Devon. It’s made in small batches, using the finest cuts of 100% pasture-fed beef from regenerative farms across Devon.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Produced in Exeter, Inyama Biltong's delicious taste is enhanced with a secret blend of spices (no preservatives, no MSG and no added sugars) and then air-dried to perfection. They have 6 delicious flavours - something for every taste! - created using their own special spice blends and in collaboration with carefully chosen brands including (also featured in Greendale) Hatari.

The Stan’s Paws journey began back in June 2020. After Sharon spent hours upon hours searching for natural and healthy treats for her trio of spirited spaniels without any luck, she set to supplying pet owners with all-natural, nutritious, wholesome, and healthy products that dogs will love time and time again. Sourcing all their stock from the UK and EU, Stan’s Paws are committed to selecting products that contain ingredients from sustainable sources and that are as eco-friendly as possible! 

WHAT TO EXPECT
100% natural treats for dogs who deserve the best, including: 100% beef burgers, furry rabbit ears, puffed chicken feet, dried sprats and more! WHO THEY ARE
Devonshire dad and daughter duo, Gary and Annie-Mae make single variety chilli products focusing on flavour first from seed to sauce. Gary set up dedicated farms in Tanzania and Senegal where their chillies are ripened to peak perfection under the African sun. Directly employing devoted teams of African Women and small farmer groups and actively developing rural African communities. The chillies are then shipped back to Annie-Mae in Ottery St Mary who ferments the chosen varieties and turns them into Hatari products. 
From the Boma (Swahili for Field) to the Bottle. They are uniquely placed to make each step between the Seed and Sauce an example of sustainability.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Take your senses on safari with HATARI chilli sauces and chilli pots. For those who appreciate excellent flavour, thoughtful provenance and an amazing story – this is one adventure you need to have! Hatari sauces use single variety chillies, selected for natural fabulous fruity and complex chilli tastes.

WHO THEY ARE
Created by Greendale Fishmonger Ethan and his partner, Sophia, Forage and Combe was 
born from a love of great flavours and foraging. Ethan and Sophia love pulling on their wellies or walking boots and getting out to see what gems they can find. Forage & Combe products are made to share all the amazing flavours the pair find and to make it easy to create the best dishes with them.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Forage & Combe products are made with hand-foraged ingredients and seasonal flavours. We highly recommend trying their original flavour wild garlic salt and oil - made with local wild garlic.

BAR BUOY

ATTENDING: 30TH NOVEMBER, 7TH, 14TH & 21ST DECEMBER

WHO THEY ARE
After several years of being both behind and in front of bars around the world, founder Tim Ball dreamt up Bar Buoy Cocktails on the beach in Devon along with his wife and business partner Ria. With a taste for well-made drinks and a thirst for the perfect sized pre-mixed sundowner, Tim created a range of handcrafted, premium, cocktails to be enjoyed at home, sent as gifts, or served in bars. The main aim of Bar Buoy Cocktails has been to put some smiles back on faces by producing exceptionally high standard cocktails whilst making sure the business doesn’t have a negative impact on the thing they love the most; the sea. They use compostable tamper seals, sustainable wooden tops, British glass bottles and biodegradable labels in their packaging, as well as donating 1% of their sales to Project Seagrass.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Working with the brilliant Salcombe Gin, Tors Vodka and Two Drifters Distillery, Bar Buoy create multi-award-winning ready-to-drink cocktails.

WHO THEY ARE
Nicola lives and breathes chocolate! One of the very few bean-to-bar makers in Devon, Nicola spent 5 years testing flavours and processes before creating Exe Chocolate last year.
The bars are made in micro-batches in a tiny chocolate factory in Exeter, with a dedication to hands-on small batch making. The beans are sourced through a speciality cacao importer who works closely with cocoa farmers to create relationships based on respect, trust and transparency. “Together we are working towards a better future for chocolate.”

WHAT TO EXPECT
We highly recommend trying the Exe Chocolate 'Made in Devon' range featuring: Two Drifters Rum Cocktail 71% (made with Uganda Mountains of the Moon cacao infused with Two Drifters Distillery rum), Venezuela Sur del Lago 70% (with Ebb Tides seaweed harvested on the East Devon coast line) and Hazelnut Latte (a creamy, vegan white chocolate made with toasted hazelnuts and coffee from Exe Coffee Roasters).

WHO THEY ARE
Exminster-based Master Florist, Amanda Winsor, makes beautiful hand-tied bouquets for the Farm Shop. Unlike many florists, Amanda also has her own flower garden, allowing her to incorporate her own cut flowers in bouquets and other floral creations throughout the year. With a naturally low carbon footprint, Amanda’s flowers are grown without the use of chemicals, and there are even resident bees on-site in hives.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Working from a bespoke studio, Amanda takes her inspiration from nature, using seasonal flowers in her designs and sourcing floral materials locally whenever possible.

WHO THEY ARE
This multi-award-winning micro-brewery is based right here at Greendale. Powderkeg are Devon’s craft beer experts, making what they call free-thinking beer. The small but mighty team are passionate about making perfectly flavoursome brews that will win over anyone and everyone. John Magill, founder and head brewer, says, ‘At Powderkeg, we want to make quality local beer the obvious choice for everyone. Sessionable, gluten-free, vegan, and unbelievably delicious.’

WHAT TO EXPECT
Powderkeg’s innovative range of craft beers and lagers has garnered huge respect and recognition from the off. They won ‘World’s Best Lager’ after 6 months in business, and the awards haven’t stopped flowing since. Their beers go right from ‘Green Light’ quarter IPA at only 1.2%, through sessionable lagers and pale ales, through to speciality beers and stronger brews. For Christmas they have a special ‘Chocolate Bocks’ trio of beers in 750ml bottles.

ATTENDING: 7TH DECEMBER

WHO THEY ARE
Hunts are a Devon cider maker with a long tradition and heritage, stretching back over 200 years. They use the highest quality Devon cider apples, fermenting fresh bitter-sweet apple juice each autumn. They have maintained traditional methods whilst embracing modern machinery and processes. All of this combines to allow their skilled craftsmen to make handcrafted, authentic Devon cider with a unique and refreshing taste for you to enjoy.

WHAT TO EXPECT
A range of classic Devon ciders, including still cider 'Wobbler' and the cloudy 'Misty Maid'. Medium-sweet Andsome Bay has earned a reputation as a crowd favorite, pleasing palates with its smooth and flavorsome profile. With each sip, you'll experience a harmonious balance of sweetness and acidity, creating a truly refreshing and enjoyable cider-drinking experience.

the udder stuff

ATTENDING: 30TH NOVEMBER & 7TH DECEMBER

WHO THEY ARE
You may know The Udder Stuff from their milk vending machines here at Greendale, at Crealy and in Cranbrook. They're a family run dairy farm just east of Exeter in Devon who work hard to produce fresh daily, gently pasteurised, unhomogenised milk and bring it 'from moo to you'. There are so many reasons why The Udder Stuff milk tastes so good... the cows are Friesians cross with Jersey meaning they produce deliciously creamy milk, they spend 300+ days of the year out in the fields, grazing a new paddock every day to ensure they're eating the best quality grass they can be, and often the cows are milked and the milk is gently pasteurised within 24 hours of reaching you!

WHAT TO EXPECT
Emily will be bringing a taste of the delicious Udder Stuff milk and milkshakes, including classic flavours: Strawberry, Chocolate, Salted Caramel and Banana as well as seasonal specials!

WHO THEY ARE
A new eastern fusion cuisine cooked up in the heart of East Devon by Master Chef of GB, Ed McLachlan. Loved locally for their bright purple food truck, YAMZA! has now launched three hot sauces to the market, each a deliciously unique take on traditional Middle Eastern flavours. They’re the proud recipients of two 2023 Great Taste awards and can’t wait help you fire up the flavour this festive season!

WHAT TO EXPECT
Expertly balanced hot sauces that won’t blow your head off! Chef Ed uses fermented chillies and fresh ingredients to create truly beautiful world flavours, and the bottles are pretty beautiful too - perfect for a saucy stocking filler.

ATTENDING: 30TH NOVEMBER, 7TH, 14TH & 21ST DECEMBER

WHO THEY ARE
Dartmoor's whisky is true produce of Devon. Their single cask, single malt whisky is made with local barley, cut with pure Dartmoor spring water and distilled in the old Bovey Tracey Town Hall on the edge of Dartmoor. Inspired by the rugged landscape of Dartmoor on which Dartmoor Whisky live and guided by their Master Distiller, Frank McHardy, their mission is to produce single malt English whisky of unrivalled quality that encapsulates the true spirit of Dartmoor National Park.

WHAT TO EXPECT
They currently have three core expressions: our original ex-Bordeaux Cask Single Malt, our American Oak ex-Bourbon Cask Single Malt and our ex-Oloroso Sherry Cask Single Malt, all carefully crafted in their distillery.

WHO THEY ARE
Thunderflower Distillery was launched in 2018 by Anicca & Dom from the coastal town of Teignmouth. They run a custom-built 200 litre pot still, developing their own recipes and lovingly crafting our spirits every step of the way, from the design of the labels, foraging botanicals, and distilling & bottling. They still number and sign each 70cl bottle with pride.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Thunderflower Gins are award-winning, small-batch, contemporary craft gins made in the London Dry method with botanical flavours extracted by vapour infusion. Only Dartmoor spring water is added to the final spirit. Their newest addition, spiced-apple flavour English Orchard gin is an absolutely must-try this Christmas.

ASHCOMBE CIDER

ATTENDING: 30TH NOVEMBER, 14TH & 21ST DECEMBER

WHO THEY ARE
Until the 1950's The White Family made great quantities of Ashcombe Cider at the Cider Barn. The orchards were then looked after by Peter Gratton for a further 59 years but were left unharvested for many years, until Ashcombe Cider was reborn in 2012. The only losers were the cows who liked to eat all the uncollected apples.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Ashcombe produce the slightly sparkling medium-dry Whites Original, medium St Nectar and sweeter Gratton's Gold. These award-winning organic ciders are made from hand-picked apples in the Ashcombe estate orchards. The only ingredients are apples as the the ciders are sweetened with their own apple juice, not sugar.

WHO THEY ARE
Four Elms Fruit Farm established its roots in Devon more than 50 years ago and has been run by the Smedley family since the early 1960s. Now into its third generation of family ownership, Four Elms continues to commit its investment in modern orchards and infrastructure, providing a sustainable future for apple production and supporting the environment in and around the 70 acre orchards.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Each individual apple is carefully hand-picked from one of Four Elms’ own attentively nurtured Devon orchards, before being pressed while still fresh. Four Elms Fruit Farm grows a wide variety of high quality apples, including Cox, Russet, Gala, Braeburn and Bramley; it uses them to produce a range of delicious apple juices, pressed and bottled in Sidmouth, Devon. In excess of 1kg of apples is used in each 75cl bottle, with no added sugars, water or concentrates to interfere with the magnificent taste of the apples.

Pea Green is a new, small Devon business set up by sisters, Tracey and Jo. They source, collate, and wrap gorgeous gifts for all manner of people and occasions in a way that is kind to the environment and that supports talented, independent UK makers. Many of their gifts are handmade in the UK and small batch. Doing their bit to look after the planet is a huge part of what they do, ensuring their wrapping has top-notch eco-credentials.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A gorgeous collection of gifts, beautifully wrapped – handmade candle holders, candles, handmade tapas bowls and oak boards, handmade mugs, and soap dishes. Did we mention handmade?! Gifts made well and made to last.

WHO THEY ARE
Shepherd Shack Catering was born out of Chef Scott’s love for the Great Outdoors, bushcraft and you’ve guessed it, food! After 25 years delivering high end catering, running kitchens from Birmingham to Torquay, educating and catering nutritional meals for children over 52 schools across the South West and reaching the semi-finals of South West Chef of the Year twice… Scott decided to calm down and focus on delivering foods borne out of his passions. After all that, Shepherd Shack Catering was established in 2019. 

WHAT TO EXPECT
Chef Scott’s experience in high end catering shines through in the expertly paired flavours and creativity of Shepherd Shack’s pies, quiches and scotch eggs. Using carefully selected ingredients and perfectly paired herbs and spices, the award-winning Shepherd Shack range - and their incredible seasonal specials - are a must-try this season!

WHO THEY ARE
West Country Olives was born out of a desire to produce and subsequently eat great tasting olives, they call it 'a passionate pursuit to produce the perfect olive'. The concept is to source the best olives possible from around the Mediterranean, then to marinate them ‘in house’ with excellent natural ingredients. These ingredients are sourced or grown locally, thus the name.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Whatever your olive style, you'll find it from West Country Olives. They produce pitted olives, Kalamata olives, stuffed olives, pimento olives, garlic olives, Greek olives, Nocellara olives and many more in various flavours.

WHO THEY ARE
Ash, the founder of Melting Whisk, has been making breads and pastries in bakeries for over 10 years. His passion for making delicious creations extended to chocolates during the 2020 lockdowns as he set out to create delicious flaked truffles for his wife and Melting Whisk was born!

WHAT TO EXPECT
Melting Whisk strive to create beautiful chocolates with fun flavours that burst in your mouth, showing that luxury chocolates don’t all have to be plain or covered in foil! These unique little chocolates pack a lot of amazing flavour!

Heron Valley

ATTENDING: 30TH NOVEMBER, 7TH & 14TH DECEMBER

WHO THEY ARE
Heron Valley has been making award-winning juices and cider for generations on their family farm in deepest Devon. Their new orchards feature some of the oldest heritage apple varieties from the west country, and they're working closely with the wildlife trust to develop beautiful, sustainable orchards with pollinator friendly wild flower meadows.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Home of delicious artisan juices, bubbly soft drinks, authentic sulphite free Devon cider and raw, unpasteurised apple cider vinegar. Traditionally produced on their South Devon family-run farm, the Heron Valley philosophy has always been ‘if in doubt, leave it out’, so they don’t put any added yeasts, sulphites or weird E-numbers into any of the drinks, and only use the best, natural, whole ingredients.

WHO THEY ARE
At Quicke's, they understand that great cheese-making is an art. They have been nurturing the family's land at Home Farm for 14 generations, crafting the very finest flavours they can from their Farm in Newton St Cyres, Exeter.

WHAT TO EXPECT
There's a Quicke's clothbound cheddar to suit every palate, from the mellow creaminess of the Quicke's Buttery Cheddar to the intense richness of our Mature Clothbound Cheddar and the exquisite, crumbly complexity of the two-year-matured Vintage Clothbound Cheddar.
