Made with scallops from our Exmouth-based boat, the Emily J, and bacon from our farm here in East Devon, this delicious concoction is prepared by hand by the Greendale fishmongers. Ideal as a starter, each includes two king-sized scallops wrapped in dry-cured back bacon, with cauliflower purée and two slices of black pudding to serve (see ‘How to Cook’, below).

Origins

Our fishing vessels work out of Exmouth, Brixham and Newlyn, and operate in accordance with the Seafood Responsible Fishing Scheme. They keep us well topped up most days with a selection of fresh fish and shellfish, and a catch can often be on its way to the Greendale farm shop within hours of leaving the sea. If we can’t catch it ourselves, we source only from trusted suppliers with standards as high as our own. The fish available may vary, depending on the season, but a delicious variety is always to be found on our fish counter. From whole fish to fillets, live lobsters to shrimp, our wide selection is sold in a choice of portion sizes and prepared for your convenience by our skilled fishmongers.

How to Cook

Place the bacon-wrapped scallops on a baking sheet, drizzle lightly with olive oil and season with black pepper. Cook them under the grill for 10-15 minutes, or until the bacon is cooked through, turning once. While the scallops are cooking, put the cauliflower puree in a small pan over a gentle heat and let it warm through. When the scallops have 2-3 minutes of their cooking time left, add the slices of black pudding to the baking sheet, turning them over after a minute or so. Turn the heat up a little under the cauliflower puree, if it is not yet warm. To serve, sit each of the cooked scallops on a black-pudding slice and serve with the warmed-through cauliflower purée alongside.

Local Delivery £4.95 - We offer a local delivery service for customers living in the EX1 to EX15 postcode areas. Choose from ‘Same day’ (orders placed by 12pm), ‘Next day’ (orders placed by 2pm) or ‘Specified day’ delivery. (up to seven days in the future, Monday to Sunday).

Standard National Delivery £7.95 - Order before 2pm and receive your items the next day, between 8am and 8pm. You can also specify whether you’d like it delivered in the morning or on a different day (up to seven days in the future, Tuesday to Friday).

Saturday & Sunday Delivery £10.00 - You can also choose to have your items delivered on Saturday or Sunday.  

Fresh Greendale Produce - Meat and seafood will be bagged and ready to cook or freeze on delivery. All fresh meat and fish will be vacuum-packed and labelled with use-by dates and a suggested frozen shelf life. Packaging or labelling may change depending on preparation or delivery limitations. When the meat or fish has been packaged it is immediately placed in an insulated envelopes and surrounded with chilled gel-packs to keep it cool and in perfect condition.
