Origins

At Greendale Farm Shop we love local produce, but sometimes we go a little farther afield to find the best for our customers, always sourcing only from trusted suppliers with standards as high as our own. Loch Duart is a great case in point; better than any other salmon we've found, it's always a big hit with our customers (and especially popular at Christmas). Established for over 40 years, Loch Duart farms its salmon in accordance with the RSPCA's animal welfare scheme, and follows rigorous, internationally-accepted standards for environmental management. Delicious and multi-award winning, Loch Duart salmon is truly a cut above the competition.

Did you know...

...that Scottish salmon was the first fish (and first non-French product) to be awarded the Label Rouge quality mark? Awarded by the French authorities, this official endorsement recognises the superior quality of a food or farmed product, with particular regard to taste.

Fishmonger's Tips

Loch Duart salmon come from broodstock that is noted for its similarity to wild salmon, not just in appearance but in taste. Fans include Rick Stein, Gordon Ramsay, Raymond Blanc and Corey Lee, so we’re in good company!

How to Cook

Our cured smoked salmon is delicious as it is, and best served simply with granary bread, lemon juice and cracked black pepper (it’s also lovely on a toasted bagel, with scrambled egg piled on top).

Fresh Greendale Produce - Meat and seafood will be bagged and ready to cook or freeze on delivery. All fresh meat and fish will be vacuum-packed and labelled with use-by dates and a suggested frozen shelf life. Packaging or labelling may change depending on preparation or delivery limitations. When the meat or fish has been packaged it is immediately placed in an insulated envelopes and surrounded with chilled gel-packs to keep it cool and in perfect condition.
