Govenek Of Ladram

Built for Mr. James West in Peterhead by Macduff Shipyards in 1986, this vessel was christened Fruitful Bough PD109. After being sold to Martin Millar in Buckie, and renamed the Regent Bird PD111, she remained in Scotland, stern-trawling, until Greendale purchased her in 2009. The first of her class, Govenek of Ladram was a pioneer in many ways and proved highly successful in catching white fish via gill nets. We removed her from the trawling sector and, after an extensive re-fit, in March 2010 she was converted to static gear fishing with trammel nets. This has proved to be a very economical and sustainable way of fishing, with the bonus of good selectivity; by using large mesh sizes and targeting specific areas, we have been able to eliminate all discards.
